Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American actress, dancer and singer. Her early Broadway performances included Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. Her role as Essie Carmahiel in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel won her the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actor in a Play. Tony Award-winning actor Annaleigh Ashford is a veteran of her career collaborating with acclaimed actors and directors in theatre and on television. she will continue that project with various upcoming ones. Ashford in the near future will play opposite Kumail in Robert Siegel's Hulu-exclusive series Welcome to Chippendales which premieres November 22. Ashford is currently working on Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust with Sarah Paulson, Ebon Moss Bachrach and Ebon Mosch-Bachrach. It's also available as an Hulu Original on Disney DTC. Ashford returns to Broadway in the month of March 2023 where he will star alongside Josh Groban opposite Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. The production will be held at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. The team behind Hamilton producer Jeffrey Seller and director Thomas Kail will be at helm of the production. Ashford portrayed Paula Jones, the main role in Ryan Murphy's latest FX show American Crime Story Impeachment. The show is based on the crisis which swept Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp along with other key characters into the first ever impeachment proceeding in America in more than 100 years. Ashford was a part of two seasons in CBS hit comedy B Positive. The show was written by Marco Pennette, Chuck Lorre and Linda Lavin. The show also featured Ben Vereen and Hector Elizondo. The actress has also appeared in Broadway on Sunday in the Park With George Wicked, Legally Blonde and the first role as Lauren as Lauren in Kinky Boots for which she was nominated for the Tony Award. Ashford was born and raised in Denver and now divides the time in Los Angeles, and New York.
